Already six Laval residents medalists at the Canada Games

Quebec’s men’s soccer team won the gold medal at the Canada Games being held August 6-21 in Niagara, Ontario.

The Quebec representatives signed a 3-0 victory in the grand final against the selection of Ontario.

Laval residents Kundalini Bien-Aimée Dominique, Tudor Iordan, Maleek Manswell-Nicholls and Nicolas Pietrantonio were part of this team that had previously reached the final thanks to a shootout victory in the previous round.

Ange Kevin Joua won the gold medal in the mixed team tennis event following a 4-3 victory for Team Quebec against British Columbia.

Although the Laval resident did not win his only match in this final, he was able to count on excellent performances from his teammates, particularly in the singles matches.

Note that the Quebec team did not lose any game during this week of competition.

Laval’s sixth medal was collected by Valérie Sigouin in softball.

The Quebec team started the last day of competition by defeating Ontario 6-5 in the morning semi-final, then lost 10-0 in the final against British Columbia.

“We ran out of juice,” said head coach Brad Pelletier in a press release. The girls were tired. You have to understand that they were at the Canadian Championship, in Fredericton, before the Games. They haven’t been home for almost 20 days. It caught up with them at the end and the BC girls were just too strong today.” (NP)
