“Dong Dong”, the virtual influencer designed by Alibaba for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics

TOP partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Chinese group Alibaba is taking advantage of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics at home to highlight its technology with the creation of a virtual influencer.

Nicknamed “Dong Dong” (meaning winter) the virtual avatar developed by Alibaba DAMO Academy can interact with the public through the screen.

Thanks to cloud computing and AI technologies, Dong Dong talks and acts almost like a human and seems to breathe some life into the workings of the Computer Bots we know.

A virtual bot which is notably visible on the Chinese sites Taobao Live and the other e-commerce and live streaming platforms of the Alibaba group.
