Little League World Series: Canada wins 7-0 against Australia

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Vancouver’s Little Mountain Little Leaguers opened the Little League World Series with a 7-0 win over Australia’s Brisbane North on Wednesday.

Led by Brad Dorwart and Kevin Smith, Canada scored one in the second set, three in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth.

The Canadians had 11 hits, their rivals five.

The Australians made three mistakes, while the Maple Leaf was limited to one.

Canada’s starting pitcher Benjamin Dartnell allowed two hits in three and two-thirds innings.

Little Mountain earned their berth in Pennsylvania by going eight matches undefeated at the Canadian tournament.

The Canadian team will play again Friday at 5:00 p.m. against Japan.
